How To Keep Spam Away From Your Hard-Drive

The best way to reduce the Spam headache is to do your best to keep it out of your mailbox.

Follow these steps and reduce the amount of Spam you get in your "real" email box:

Take care if you intend to use a free spam killer software. Read the terms and conditions before you install it.

Some free programs can install spyware onto your computer. Spyware installs itself onto a computer system without you knowing about it.

Spyware removal is covered in another article. For now, let's get back to the spam problem.

Get A Free Online eMail Account

Protect your "real" e-mail address from Spam and open a Free Online email account. There are many of these services available. A couple of the more popular ones are:

When to use your Free Online e-mail

Whenever you sign up for any service online, the chances are that you will need to fill out an Online Form. Whenever you fill out an Online Form, it is a good idea to use your Free e-mail account. A few places where you might need to fill out an Online form are:

Subscribing to Free eZines

Buying goods

Online Auctions

Disscusion board posting

Be aware that filling out ANY form Online can leave you vulnerable to get Spam. For this reason, use your Free e-mail account to dump all that Spam in one location. This will make it fast and easy to delete.

Just check each email for it's value. Forward emails you want to keep to your real email address and delete the rest. Soon you will get good at spotting spam so this job will get quicker the more you do it.

Take care with your "real" e-mail address

So you have a Free e-mail account and a "real" e-mail account. Your real e-mail account is the email address issued to you by your ISP (Internet Service Provider). You now have enough information about who should have your "real" email address.

If you feel certain that your friends and relatives will not circulate your real email address, give it to them.

I however have found that friends will also be sucked in by certain online gimmicks. They have inputted my real email into an Online Form and now I get Spam in my real email box.
